Chico Wildflower Stories of the Road!
The Youngest Wildflower Rider
Four years old?... No problem! Pedaling on at the age of four, Sophie has to be one of the youngest Wildflower riders. Entered in the 2016 Childflower, she rode her most excellent pink bike out to Durham and then mom and dad towed her on their bike trailer back to Chico. Great ride Sophie! We're sure we'll be seeing you tearing up Table Mountain soon...
Schwinn Stingrays Conquer Table Mountain
Think you could complete the Wildflower 100 (including Table Mountain) on a Schwinn Stingray?... These guys did! In honor of his dad, Mike Austin (left) and friend Pat Hambright (right) rode their Retro Schwinn Stingray Orange Krates up Table Mountain (yes it hurt!) and completed the 2016 Wildflower 100. In fact, Mike rode the very 1969 Stingray that his dad bought him for his 5th birthday. Wow!
The First Ever Rainy Wildflower
It wasn't a "dark and stormy night" but it was close... Read Randall Braun's story of the first VERY cold and wet Chico Wildflower Century.
